Dr's Remedy Frequently Asked Questions

Dr's Remedy - General Questions

Does Dr.’s REMEDY smell like traditional nail polishes?

Many customers report that our line is much less potent in smell than other mainstream polishes.

Is Dr.’s REMEDY antifungal?

We recently launched an Anti-Fungal Cuticle Oil that penetrates the skin and works at the source of a nail fungus. This effective cuticle oil works in conjunction with our polishes. While the polish line itself is cosmetic, our polishes are doctor formulated and doctor recommended to function as an adjunct to oral fungal medications. The essential ingredients infused in our polishes help prevent weak, brittle and discolored nails.

*Dr.’s REMEDY carries the APMA (American Podiatric Seal of Approval) due to its effectiveness and reputation.

Application & Benefits Of Dr's Remedy

Can I use my own (another brand) nail polish over a Dr.’s REMEDY base coat and still get the benefits?

Dr's Remedy nail polishes have not been tested in conjunction with other nail polish brands. For optimal results, use Dr's Remedy tested 3 step process.

Choose 1 of three different base coat options (apply 1 coat), apply 2 coats of shaded polish followed by either TOTAL Two In One or CALMING Clear.

I have nail fungus on only one of my toe nails. Can I use the same bottle of Dr.’s REMEDY for all of my toenails or will the fungus spread?

In most cases, the same polish can be used without risk of spreading the fungus. Dr's Remedy's chemists advise that nail fungus ‘dies’ within the bottle and should not spread. However, we always advise that once the fungus is cleared, a fresh bottle is purchased.

Can I use Dr.’s REMEDY if I am also using a topical treatment for the nail fungus? Does Dr.’s REMEDY adversely affect the treatment?

Dr.’s REMEDY can be successfully applied over a topical medication (once you have allowed the topical treatment to fully dry).

We suggest either LOYAL Linen, PROMISING Pink, PURITY Peach or GENTLE Gingerbread - depending upon skin tone.

How long should I expect my manicure to last?

Dr.’s REMEDY wears similar to a traditional nail polish. With normal, everyday activity, polish should last between 5 to 7 days. A pedicure with Dr.’s REMEDY will last up to 1 month, but this is not recommended. Podiatrists advise their patients remove or reapply toe nail polish after 7 days.

After you open your bottle of Dr.’s REMEDY for the first time, your polish will have a 2 year shelf life if stored at room temperature. Never store bottles in the refrigerator or leave your polish in a hot car.

Dr's Remedy Treatments

What’s the difference between Hydration and Total 2 in 1? Which is best for me?

TOTAL Two-in-One can be used as a top and a base coat. TOTAL 2 in 1 can be applied directly to the nail and can be applied over polish to seal the manicure. HYDRATION  Moisture Treatment can also be applied directly to the nail to hydrate dry or brittle nails. When used alone as a treatment, apply 2 coats of HYDRATION moisture Treatment. When used as a base coat under polish, apply 1 coat of HYDRATION Moisture Treatmnet directly onto the nail.

*Hydration Moisture Treatment should not be used as a top coat

How do I use HYDRATION Moisture Teatment?

Apply directly to the nail. As a stand alone treatment, apply 2 coats. As a base coat, apply 1 coat under the polish. We recommend also using CALMING Clear as a sealing finish.

I have nail fungus, will TOTAL 2 in 1 help?

Dr's Remedy clear and shaded polishes will not cure fungus; they are meant be used in conjunction with prescribed medication or an over-the-counter topical medication. Try Anti-fungal CARESS Cuticle Oil. Dr's Remedy cuticle oil contains FDA approved Undecylenic acid to help treat fungal infections.

*We recommend consulting with your podiatrist about the best course of action for your individual condition.

Will the cuticle oil help with fungus on/under the nail? My fungus isn’t directly on the cuticle.

Yes. The cuticle bed is where the nail starts to grow. By keeping the cuticle free of fungus, the new nail will grow healthier and stronger.*It takes approximately 6 months for new healthy nail growth to form after a fungal infection.
