Finding the right shoe size involves more than simply measuring the length of your foot. The Genuine Brannock Foot Measuring Device is a professional shoe-fitting tool that measures heel-to-toe length, heel-to-ball (arch) length and foot width, helping determine an appropriate starting shoe size.

Used by footwear retailers and fitting professionals, it is also useful for checking measurements at home before shopping for shoes online.

Available in separate US Men’s, US Women’s and US Junior models. Please select the appropriate model before ordering. Each device is sold separately.

  • Adjustable measuring components: Allow the device to be positioned against the foot.

Choose Your Brannock Device Model

The models have different size ranges and calibrations. Choose according to the footwear sizing scale you need.

Model US Shoe Size Range Width Range
US Men’s 4–16 3A–3E
US Women’s 3–13 4A–2E
US Junior Infant 0 through children’s 5 Children’s width scale

The Junior model is suitable for both boys and girls.

Important: These devices display US sizes. Check the footwear brand’s sizing system before purchasing shoes.

Why Is Heel-to-Ball Measurement Important?

Feet of equal overall length can have different proportions. Arch length helps assess where the ball joint sits in relation to the shoe’s flex point.

How to Use the Brannock Foot Measuring Device

US Men’s and Women’s Models

  1. Open the width bar and retract the arch pointer.

  2. Stand evenly weighted, with your heel against the correct heel cup.

  3. Read the length at your longest toe.

  4. Align the arch pointer with the inner ball joint.

  5. Generally use the larger length reading.

  6. Read width at that selected size.

  7. Measure the other foot and fit the larger foot.

US Junior Model

Follow the same length-measuring approach. For width, position the slide’s arrows at the selected size, then read the line aligned with the widest part of the foot.

The Junior calibration includes approximately one shoe size of growing room. Do not automatically add another full size; check the actual shoe fit.

For infants who cannot stand, follow Brannock’s separate infant measuring instructions.

Who Is the Brannock Device Suitable For?
