About Dr.’s Remedy Nail Polish

Dr.’s Remedy is a podiatrist-formulated range of nail colours and nail-care products created for customers who want attractive shades with thoughtfully selected ingredients. The collection includes classic, neutral and seasonal colours, together with base coats, top coats and specialist nail-care formulas.

Dr.’s Remedy describes its current nail colour formula as 24-Free, vegan, cruelty-free and oxygen- and moisture-permeable. Formulas vary between products, so always check the individual product description and ingredient list if you have an allergy or sensitivity.

As a podiatrist, I particularly value the permeable formula. Traditional polish can form a more occlusive coating over the nail, while a permeable formula allows greater movement of oxygen and moisture through the polish. Nail polish does not treat or prevent fungal nail infections, however, and any discolouration, thickening, pain or persistent nail change should be assessed by a podiatrist or doctor.

For the best finish, prepare clean, dry nails, apply thin coats and allow each layer to dry before applying the next. Use a suitable Dr.’s Remedy base coat and top coat where recommended, and remove toenail polish regularly so the nails can be checked.

FAQs

Got a question? We are here to answer

What is Dr.’s Remedy?
Dr.’s Remedy is a doctor-formulated range of enriched nail colours and nail-care products. It was created by podiatrists as an alternative for customers seeking attractive nail colour with thoughtfully selected ingredients.
What does “24-Free” mean?
Dr.’s Remedy describes its current nail polish formula as 24-Free. This means it is formulated without 24 selected ingredients and ingredient groups, including formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, camphor, xylene, parabens, phthalates, TPHP and synthetic fragrances. Formulas can vary between products, so always check the individual product packaging and ingredient list if you have a particular sensitivity or allergy.
Is Dr.’s Remedy vegan and cruelty-free?
According to the manufacturer, Dr.’s Remedy nail polish is vegan and is not tested on animals.
What ingredients are Dr.’s Remedy products enriched with?
Depending on the product, Dr.’s Remedy formulas may include ingredients such as tea tree oil, garlic bulb extract, vitamin E, biotin and wheat protein. Some formulas also contain ingredients such as lavender, kale, cactus or ginseng extracts. The ingredients differ between products, so please refer to the individual product description and packaging for the most accurate information.
Is Dr.’s Remedy nail polish an antifungal treatment?
No. Dr.’s Remedy coloured nail polish is a cosmetic product and is not intended to treat or cure a fungal nail infection. Anyone concerned about a suspected fungal infection or another nail condition should seek advice from a doctor, podiatrist or pharmacist before applying nail products.
Is Dr.’s Remedy breathable?
Dr.’s Remedy is described by the manufacturer as oxygen- and moisture-permeable, as well as prayer-safe. As a podiatrist, this is one of the features I particularly value and one of the reasons I recommend the range. Although nails do not “breathe” in the same way as skin, I prefer a permeable formula that does not completely seal the nail beneath a cosmetic coating. This is especially important when toenails are regularly covered with polish.
How long does Dr.’s Remedy nail polish last?
Wear time varies according to nail preparation, application and everyday activity. The manufacturer advises that a manicure generally lasts approximately five to seven days. For toenails, the manufacturer recommends removing or reapplying the polish after approximately seven to ten days so the nails can be checked regularly.
Do I need a base coat and top coat?
For the best finish and wear, apply an appropriate Dr.’s Remedy base coat before your chosen colour and finish with a suitable top coat. TOTAL Two-in-One can be used as both a base coat and a top coat. HEALING Hydration can be used alone or as a moisturising base coat but is not intended for use as a top coat. Always follow the directions supplied with the individual product.
How should I store Dr.’s Remedy nail polish?
Store the bottle upright at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Do not refrigerate the polish or leave it in a hot vehicle. The manufacturer advises that an opened bottle has an expected shelf life of approximately two years when stored correctly.
Is Dr.’s Remedy suitable if I have allergies or sensitive nails?
Individual sensitivities vary, and some Dr.’s Remedy products contain ingredients such as wheat protein and essential oils. Review the complete ingredient list before use and consider testing a small area first. If you have an allergy, damaged skin, a medical condition or concerns about a particular ingredient, consult an appropriate healthcare professional before use.
Are the colours shown online exact?
We make every effort to represent each shade accurately. However, colour can vary between computer and phone screens and may also appear different depending on lighting, skin tone and the number of coats applied.
